The city of Baltimore has come to an agreement over the wrongful death case of Freddie Gray, and the settlement is said to be $6.4 million to the family of Freddie Gray.
In these situations, money means nothing to the family members, but to have a settlement helps the legacy and compensation for Mr. Grays life loss.
Rioting erupted hours after Mr. Gray’s April 27 funeral. Gov. Larry Hogan sent in Maryland National Guard troops to help restore order, and Ms. Rawlings-Blake imposed a five-night curfew.
The settlement doesn’t constitute admission of liability by the city or the offending officers, but simply settles it because Gray died in the city’s care. The family will be paid $2.8 million this year and $3.6 million the next fiscal year.
