Affiliate Marketing – A Review of Wealthy Affiliate University

Article by A. Birmingham

What the heck is “affiliate marketing?” Does the term alone give you a shiver up your spine?

If you’ve hunted around the internet at all looking for work to do from home, chances are you’ve run across the term “affiliate marketing.” In a nutshell, affiliate marketing is a method of promoting a product for a merchant and getting a commission for it. YOU are the affiliate marketer. If you decide that you want to promote products or services on the internet, all you really need is a computer and an internet connection. You don’t have to stock any products or worry about shipping and returns. That’s all for the merchant to worry about. Your role is to simply promote the product online. Depending on the product or service, you can generate some very good money especially if the products are high-end products such as electronics.

Ok, there is one more thing you need. You need to know HOW to be an affiliate marketer. Many people have tried their hand at affiliate marketing online and have failed. I’ve done it myself. I tried to do short ads using a small program I downloaded for free. I had NO training except for a couple of short paragraphs I read on how to place an ad through the free software. I was expecting big things and got nothing.

Then I happened onto the Wealthy Affiliate University(WA) website. I did as much research as I could. I had never heard anything about them before. The Wealthy Affiliate University is an affiliate marketing website that teaches you HOW to succeed at internet marketing. They actually TEACH you how to succeed? This was a new concept to me. So I signed up. I was immediately impressed with the members area. There was an incredible amount of information. I checked out the Members Forum and found it to be amazing! The forum alone has a wealth of information. Members both new and old swap information here and no one is made to feel inferior. They welcome “newbies” and their questions and are eager to help you succeed. I posted a few questions as soon as I started and received a lot of positive feedback and support. That, in itself, is worth it’s weight in gold!

You can also accept “buddy” requests. “Buddies” can be both old and new members who want to help you succeed. One of the biggest problems trying to learn anything on the internet is that it is so impersonal. You download something and that’s the end of it–no support. But at WA, there’s always someone around 24/7 who can help you either on the forum or by sending a private message to a buddy. That’s a big plus for me.

Some of the benefits include:

Over 500 tutorials! Including article marketing, SEO, finding niches, email marketing campaigns and more. Tools to help you create internet marketing websites and articles. Tools such as research tools, web hosting, website development and more. Programs that are designed to help even a beginner succeed. Programs that are written in easy to understand, short lessons. After each lesson, there’s a checklist of things to do before advancing onto the next lesson. A specially designed 8-week training course to introduce you to internet marketing and start your internet marketing business. It also has tools that will do some of the work for you by providing you with “hot lists” of great products that are selling well.

One of the things I found most inspiring was in reading the success stories of beginners who have started making money after being a member for only a month or so.

If you are considering joining WA and you haven’t done your research then you should. Any time you are willing to plunk down your hard earned cash you should know what you are getting in return.
